Glacier Ridge 7th Annual Slope Event is AUGUST 7TH & 8th, 2010
SlopeColorado.com's inspiration comes from the desire to discover and share the amazing sites Colorado has to offer. High alpine soaring in the Rocky Mountains provides a unique experience for any rc enthusiast. Huge lift bands present opportunities for a scenic cruise, impromptu racing, formation flying, high intensity dynamic soaring and of course COMBAT.
Combat contests serve as the best way to draw a big crowd. Flying in tight formation with 25-30 planes is a mind blowing experience. It’s an easy aspect of the hobby to get started in and everyone enjoys the laughter, prizes and camaraderie that go along with it.
Growing up in Colorado we loved the mountains and especially four-wheeling. Combining this passion with our love for slope soaring has helped us discover new and exciting slopes high up in the Colorado Rockies. One of the most beautiful sites we found is called Glacier Ridge. Located on the Continetal Divide at 12,400 feet, this mountain overlooks Breckenridge, Lake Dillion, the backside of Keystone Mountain and off the backside is the huge valley of South Park. If it is a good south wind and you listen very closely you can hear Cartman, Kyle, Stan, and Kenny. :)
This year will be our 7th Annual Glacier Ridge Slope Soaring Event.
There are extensive listings of slope soaring sites where you can learn about all the great places to fly in Colorado! If you're interested in posting a story, building tip or want to describe a new slope site, please email us and we'll tell you how to do it.
Thanks for stopping by and I hope you enjoy the site!
