Location:
Glacier Ridge is a beautiful but extreme site on the Continental Divide north of South Park. At an elevation of 12,400 ft, we fly with spectacular views of Breckenridge, Lake Dillon, Keystone and the South Park valley.
Mt Guyot, the dominate mountain on the left of the NW facing slope, provides an amazing backdrop to the flying zone. Wind from the NW produces the widest lift band and the best DS conditions due to the steep back side cliff that overlooks South Park. If it’s blowing from the S or SE, expect smooth vertical lift as the huge valley funnels the wind up the bowl. Storms and varying wind conditions usually mean we’ll have the opportunity to fly most wind directions.
There is camping on the S side of Georgia Pass near the creek and beaver ponds.
We highly recommend having 4wd for the trail near the crest but the other 90% can be done with almost any car.
